A majority of active voters in Georgia have already cast early votes in the battleground state.
According to CNN, data released by Gabriel Sterling, the chief operations officer at the Georgia Secretary of State office, shows that more than 50% of registered voters have already voted for their choice of elected officials.
Nearly 60 million votes have been cast nationwide. Early trends in reported data show that this year’s election has already increased voter registration.
Per NBC News, new voters in battleground states like Pennsylvania may prove to be key in which candidate wins the votes. Data shows that more than 100,000 new voters have put in their ballots in Pennsylvania alone. In context, the number of early votes is already more than the total number of votes President Biden needed to win over Donald Trump. In 2020, only 80,555 votes were needed for the current President to win over the state.
Democrat women reportedly made up the majority of the newly registered voters in the state. In contrast, male Republicans made up the majority of new voters in Arizona, which is considered to be another key battleground state.
Although early data suggests trends, analysts emphasized the importance of waiting to see the final election results.

“Despite so many votes having been cast, it is hard to know what it means,” said the analysts at NBC News. “Many more people have yet to vote, and exactly how many there will be or how they will split are unknown.”
The early votes came as more endorsements flooded in for Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign.
In a video, Marvel stars Danai Gurira, Scarlett Johansson, Mark Ruffalo, Don Cheadle, Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., and Paul Bettany all show support for Harris, urging viewers to cast a vote in support of the nominee.
Sports legend LeBron James also showed his support for Harris with a video depicting past protests for equal rights and ending with the quote “hate takes us back” to convey what another Trump presidency would mean.
Former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg further supported the Harris campaign with a new op-ed, denouncing Trump’s politics and his time spent in office. He highlighted Trump’s stance on several topics including abortions, immigration and the economy.
“She [Harris] is determined to lead our nation forward, and she understands that the only way to do that is by bringing people back together,” said Bloomberg. “I’m ready. I think most Americans are, too. And that’s why I hope undecided voters of all political stripes will join me in voting for Kamala Harris for president.”
