A New Home...
After years of being a standalone website, TheHub.news’ move to Substack is a recommitment to how and why we do this work. In an era of political division, government shutdowns and dwindling support for public institutions, independent media has never been more vital.
Across the country, we see troubling efforts to diminish Black and Indigenous history, to roll back funding for HBCUs and to undo diversity, equity, and inclusion programs that opened doors for so many. The rollback of diversity, equality, and inclusion initiatives, the stripping of Black historical figures from national websites and even moves against the National Museum of African American History and Culture all reflect a growing sentiment to forget what must be remembered.
Yet, this is exactly why spaces like TheHub.news matter.
Currently, THIS Day section will continue to highlight the stories of resilience and brilliance that have shaped our past. Our coverage of money and wellness will provide the tools and insights required to not only remain but to flourish despite systemic injustices and sweeping efforts to undermine our contributions not only to our country, but to the world.
Just as importantly, TheHub.news will be a space to amplify the voices of our living ancestors — the elders, activists and community leaders who are shaping history in real time. With your continued support, over time, we will work towards expanding our team. TheHub.news will delve even deeper into our past to bring more stories about life before slavery and colonization, as well as interactive maps and exhibitions.
We are building a fully loaded hub for future trailblazers, assuring that the stories of today’s freedom fighters are preserved for generations to come.
