After months of speculation, Netflix has officially confirmed its collaboration with Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson to produce a docuseries exploring the rise and fall of music icon Sean “Diddy” Combs.
In May, the streaming giant secured the highly sought-after rights to the project, though it had remained silent on its release—until now.
“This is a story with profound human impact,” Jackson and director Alexandra Stapleton expressed in a joint statement. “It’s a layered narrative spanning decades, far beyond the headlines and sound bites circulating in the media. We are committed to amplifying the voices of those who have been silenced and providing an authentic, nuanced perspective. While the allegations are undeniably disturbing, it’s important to remember that Sean Combs’s actions are not the entire story of hip hop or its culture. Our goal is to ensure that individual acts do not obscure the broader contributions of the culture at large.”
Currently, Combs is facing federal charges of racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking by force, fraud, or coercion and transportation to engage in prostitution.
Despite being behind bars, Combs’ legal woes continue to snowball.
Earlier this week, a new accuser, Thalia Graves, came forward—marking the 11th public allegation against the Bad Boy Records founder. Graves claims that Combs drugged, restrained, and raped her in 2001, allegedly with his bodyguard Joseph “Big Joe” Sherman’s involvement. Graves further alleges that the assault was filmed.
“It goes beyond just physical harm caused by the assault,” she said at the press conference. “It’s a pain that reaches into the very core of who you are and leaves emotional scars that may never fully heal. Some of the hardest parts of this pain are the shame and the guilt I have experienced that plays a negative part in my day-to-day ability to function properly.”
The docuseries, helmed by Stapleton through her House of Nonfiction production company and executive produced by Jackson’s G-Unit Film & Television, will focus on these harrowing allegations of sex trafficking, racketeering, sexual assault and detrimental abuse surrounding Combs.
