Founded in 2022, Jrumz is led by audiologist and entrepreneur Dr. Lana Joseph. Inspired by her own personal experience with an undiagnosed speech and hearing disorder, she created the company after musicians and recording artists began reaching out for her expertise. Founded by designer Kwame Molden, the Springbreak Watches, otherwise known as SPGBK Watches, have been highly acclaimed, making the cut on lists by Oprah Daily, Good Morning America and the New York Times. Available at their online store and outlets such as Nordstrom, the company offers consumers a number of analog watches in colors such as pink rose and pink lemonade. Springbreak Watch has also collaborated with HBCUs, mainly celebrating North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University.
NSPRE Millen Slate Gen 2 Glasses
Created by Chaymeriyia Moncrief, who is known as the first Black woman to create smart glasses, NSPRE is a tech company that offers a variety of electronics. Along with an original smartphone known as the N1, the company has the Millen Slate Gen 2 glasses available on its website. The smart glasses include scratch-resistant fiber frames, Samsung speakers, as well as a mic and Bluetooth. The battery life lasts approximately 12 hours and they can be controlled through a touch or a swipe.
She Dreams Elsewhere
Released in 2021, “She Dreams Elsewhere” is a role-playing game rooted in drawing attention to mental health. As part of the game, the player assumes the role of Thalia, a woman who is rendered comatose by her anxiety and nightmares. Infused in surrealism and hip-hop, “She Dreams Elsewhere” explores her journey as she attempts to unravel the reasoning behind these nightmares. The video games was created by filmmaker and indie game developer Davionne Gooden.
Aurion: Legacy of the Kori-Odan
Priced at $4.99 at Steam, this video game is developed by Kiro’o Games. Released in 2016, “Aurion: Legacy of the Kori-Odan” is an action role playing game set in the fictional world of Auriona. It follows the story of Prince Enzo Kori-Odan who is overthrown in a coup d’eat led by his brother-in-law moments before his wedding. Together with the bride Erine Evou of Soma, the couple discover new cultures as they gather help for defeating Erine’s brother.
